In-store POSM design for food and beverage brands

852 Tangram designs in-store point of sale materials (POSM) for food and beverage brands and their Canadian importers and distributors. We adapt head-office artwork to each retailer's sizes and languages, and deliver print-ready files.

The problem

Retail programs go wrong in the details.

A promotion that looks simple on a slide becomes dozens of files. Each retailer has its own fixtures and sizes, each SKU or flavour needs its own version, and the French or Chinese copy has to fit a layout first built in English. Specs often arrive late, and a missing bleed or a low-resolution photo can cost a reprint and a missed store window.

  • Too many versions. Pieces, sizes, SKUs and languages multiply, and every file has to match.
  • Specs that move. Retailer and printer requirements arrive late or differ from store to store.
  • Copy that does not fit. French and Chinese can run longer or shorter than English; pasting them in breaks the layout.
  • Print risk. One wrong dieline or colour setting means a reprint.

Retail promotions

Retail promotions, job by job.

Promotions run on the retailer's calendar, not yours. We design the pieces a promotion needs for Canadian grocery chains and Asian supermarkets, built to the specs your buyer provides, and keep your masters and specs on file so repeat jobs move faster. We are not affiliated with any retailer; approval goes through your own buyer or category manager.

How we work

Masters first, then every version.

  1. 01

    Brief and specs

You send the fixture list, sizes, SKUs, languages, dates and your printer's file specifications. We list anything missing before design starts.

  2. 02

    Master layouts

One master per piece type, built from your campaign or brand guidelines. You approve the masters before any adaptation begins.

  3. 03

    Adaptations

Every size, SKU, retailer and language version is built from the approved masters, so the program stays consistent.

  4. 04

    File checks and release

Print-ready PDFs set to your printer's specifications. We check size, bleed, colour settings, fonts and image resolution before files are released.

  5. 05

    Changes

Review rounds are agreed at the start. Changes after approval go through a change order, so scope and dates stay clear.

  • A Canadian marketing or trade team that needs an outside studio for a steady flow of small jobs

What you can expect

Built to spec, checked before release.

  • 01

Built to spec, checked before release

We design to your fixture and printer specifications, and check every file for size, bleed, colour settings, fonts and resolution before it leaves us.

  • 02

    One look across every version

Masters come first. Every size, SKU, retailer and language version is adapted from approved masters, so the program reads as one brand.

  • 03

    Languages typeset, not pasted

English, French, Chinese and Korean versions are typeset from your approved copy. When a line runs long, we flag it to you before files go out.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is POSM in grocery retail?

POSM stands for point of sale materials: the printed and display pieces placed near a product in store. In grocery this usually means shelf talkers, wobblers, danglers, shelf strips, endcap headers, display graphics and promo signs. Their job is to help a shopper notice the product and decide quickly at the shelf.

What is the difference between a shelf talker, a wobbler and a dangler?

A shelf talker is a small card that sits on the shelf edge, right by the product, for a price, claim or offer. A wobbler is mounted on a flexible arm so it moves and catches the eye. A dangler hangs from the shelf or ceiling so shoppers can see it from further down the aisle.

Can you design POSM to our retailer's specs and dielines?

Yes. We design to the sizes, dielines and file requirements your retailer or printer provides, and we build print-ready files with bleed, safe areas and colour set up for production. If a retailer has its own approval step, we prepare the files for your submission. Approval itself stays with your buyer or category manager.

Can you handle many small promotion jobs each month?

Yes, that is the work we are set up for. Trade marketing teams send a steady flow of small jobs: seasonal wobblers, flyer ads, price change tags and resizes for a new banner. We keep your files and specs organised so repeat jobs move faster, and confirm timing for each job in writing.

Do in-store promotion signs need French in Quebec?

Yes. Quebec's Charter of the French language requires public signs, posters and commercial advertising in French, and French must be markedly predominant when another language appears. The Office québécois de la langue française treats an in-store display as commercial advertising. Elsewhere in Canada, nutrient content and health claims in advertising must still appear in English and French.

Can you adapt our head-office artwork for Canadian stores?

Yes. Most retail programs start from an approved master look from head office. We adapt it into each Canadian retailer's sizes and formats, and into English, French, Chinese or Korean from your approved copy. Your brand system stays intact, so every piece still reads as the global brand.

How fast can you turn around a small POSM job?

First-draft timing, urgent availability and delivery dates are confirmed in your written quote, based on the brief and the files we receive. Small adaptations from existing artwork are usually the quickest. Larger multi-piece programs run in stages: masters first, then every size, retailer and language version.

Do you work with brands outside Toronto?

Yes. We are based in Toronto and work with clients in Toronto, the GTA and Vancouver. Most POSM work runs remotely: you share the brief, head-office artwork and retailer specs, we send proofs for review, and final files go straight to your printer. We schedule calls to suit both Eastern and Pacific time.

How is a POSM program priced?

Every job and program is quoted from the brief: the number of pieces, sizes, versions and languages, and the review rounds included. We do not publish package prices. You receive a written quote before design starts, so the scope and cost are clear before any work begins.
