  • Ongoing work: we create in-store and packaging work for a global Asian food brand, with more than 40 jobs.
  • Our approach for that brand: masters first, then every size, store format and language. The work is produced in English, French, Chinese and Korean.
  • Built for many small jobs: a small senior team means you deal directly with the people doing the work.

The work for that brand includes:

  • Endcaps and endcap headers
  • Packaging and label design
  • Display headers
  • Sideboards
  • Aisle headers and blades
  • Wobblers
  • Flyers
  • Sell sheets
  • Recipe cards
  • Posters
  • Print and magazine ads
  • Product shots
  • Window stickers and deco
  • Elevator decor
  • Pop-up die-cuts
  • Tent cards
  • Big signage and foamboard
  • Shelf talkers
  • H Mart POSM suite
  • In-store pitch mockups
  • Mall screen ad series
  • Launch kit
  • Chinese to Korean translation

More than 20 types of deliverables, including packaging labels, shelf talkers, wobblers, headers, side boards, aisle blades, tent cards, posters, foamboards, window stickers and elevator decor.

Careful checks before print: we spotted a product code that was one digit short, confirmed it with a check, and rebuilt the barcode before anything went to print, so a barcode that might not scan never reached a store.

How we work

Start with the shelf.

  1. 01

    Start with the shelf

We look at where the product sits, who buys it and what the retailer needs.

  2. 02

    Agree a short brief

Sizes, languages, files and deadlines are set up front, so repeat jobs move quickly.

  3. 03

    Design directly

You work with our founder and a trusted designer. No layers of hand-offs.

  4. 04

    Check every language version

We review each version against your approved copy before files go out. Final label sign-off stays with your team.

  5. 05

    Deliver print-ready files

Files are set up for your printer or retailer, ready to use.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who designs packaging and in-store materials for food brands in Toronto?

852 Tangram is a Toronto creative and marketing studio that designs packaging adaptations, POSM, sell sheets and grocery promotions for CPG and food and beverage brands. We work with clients in Toronto, the GTA and Vancouver, in English and Chinese, and we have designed layouts in French and Korean.

Does food packaging sold in Canada have to be bilingual?

In most cases, yes. Mandatory label information on consumer prepackaged food sold in Canada generally has to appear in both English and French. There are limited exceptions, such as some local foods, test market foods and certain specialty imported foods, set out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Quebec also has its own French-language rules. We design bilingual packs from your approved wording, and your regulatory team should sign off on final compliance.

Can a small agency handle many small, fast POSM jobs every month?

Yes. Small, frequent jobs are a core part of our CPG work, and a small team means you speak directly with the people doing the design. We agree a simple brief format and turnaround for each type of job at the start, so repeat requests move quickly.

What should a food sell sheet include for Canadian grocery buyers?

A good sell sheet gives a buyer the product, the reason to list it and the facts to order, all on one page. That usually means product images, key selling points, pack sizes and case configuration, product codes such as UPC, shelf life and storage, and who to call for pricing and orders. Pricing usually goes on a separate price sheet, so the sell sheet stays current longer. Ask whether the buyer wants it in English, French or both.

Can a Toronto agency work with our Vancouver marketing team?

Yes. 852 Tangram is based in Toronto and works with clients in Toronto, the GTA and Vancouver. We work remotely with video calls, shared folders and clear written briefs, and plan around the three-hour time difference.

What languages do you work in?

We work in English and Chinese. We have also designed layouts in French and Korean. For a global Asian food brand, we have produced in-store work in English, French, Chinese and Korean. We work from your approved copy, and final wording sign-off stays with your team.
