01The brief

The same run of work, film after film

Every film needs the same run of work, from the poster adaptation to the premiere. The work grew release by release: photography and video from October 2023, then the website, then North American print.

02What we do

The work, film by film

  • Print: North American posters, one-sheets and large-format print, adapted from the Hong Kong artwork
  • Website: we built the Illume Films website and keep it up to date
  • Premieres: photography and video on the night, plus ticket and premiere materials
  • Video: trailer updates and cast and director interviews

03The craft

Getting the details right in print

For one recent release, the print files from Hong Kong arrived with the type turned into outlines, so the numbers in the release date could not be edited.

We did not guess at a font. We measured the digits against 26 installed Chinese, Japanese and Korean typefaces and used the closest match, Source Han Sans TW Bold, for the new date.

Two more calls were business decisions. The Hong Kong classification badge came off, because it has no standing in Canada. With no written size spec on file, we took the size from two accepted deliverables, built the one-sheet at 27 by 40 inches, and asked for the spec in writing.

The release was Ciao UFO, and its 2026 print set ran to an 11x17 poster, a 27x40 one-sheet, a 12-sheet and a 5x7 ft standee.

The Ciao UFO 12-sheet: four children on a hilltop looking up at the sky, with the title running down the left side.Print file

04Beyond the poster

Sponsors and a charity screening

We have worked the revenue side too. In March 2025 we brokered three film sponsorships from another of our clients.

On 22 March 2026 three films screened at Innis Town Hall for the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library at the University of Toronto, with Illume Films. We took the distribution sponsor's seat and did not bill the day.
