Reflections & Refractions 港·映 — Creativity in Service of Community

At 852 Tangram, we believe creativity should do more than look good - it should do good. That's why we devote 30% of our work to meaningful projects that amplify social causes and support the communities around us.
On March 22, 2026, we were honoured to partner with Illume Films 852 to support Reflections & Refractions 港·映 — a charity screening day held at Innis Town Hall, University of Toronto, raising funds for the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library, one of the most significant collections of Hong Kong cultural heritage outside of Asia.
The event featured screenings of Four Trails (香港四徑大步走), The Last Stitch (雙縫) and 金童 (Golden Boy) , drawing a packed house of film lovers, community members, and supporters of Hong Kong cultural preservation.
How We Contributed
Our team provided end-to-end creative and operational support for the event:
1. Ticketing & Donation Integration
One of the biggest challenges for the event was connecting ticket sales directly to charitable donations. The Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library didn't have its own ticketing system, and the organizers wanted every ticket purchase to count as a tax-deductible donation — not just a transaction.
We designed and developed a seamless three-step system: attendees purchase their ticket through the Illume Films 852 website (which we also designed and built), get redirected to the library's official donation page to complete their contribution, and then upload their donation receipt for automatic verification. Our system validates each receipt, confirms the donation amount, and activates the ticket — no manual checking, no back-and-forth emails.
The result: a frictionless experience for attendees and a fully trackable, tax-receipt-ready donation flow for the library. Every ticket sold meant a verified donation received.Ticketing & Donation Integration
2. Event Photography
Our team captured the energy and moments of the day — from the packed auditorium to the intimate conversations backstage.
Upcoming Promotional Video
We're producing the official video for the library to support its ongoing awareness and fundraising efforts.
3. MC Hosting
A special thank you to our team members Isa and Sharon, who brought warmth and energy as the event's MCs, guiding the audience through an unforgettable afternoon of film and community.
4. Support the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library
Donations to the library support the preservation of Hong Kong's cultural, historical, and literary heritage at the University of Toronto. All donations are tax-deductible.
